It’s Like You’re a Detective! Teaching Inquiries in Social Studies with The DBQ Project

The Denver Museum of Nature and Science: October 8, 2022

Are you looking for engaging and rigorous ways to teach social studies? Do you need ideas for how to teach inquiry experiences that allow students to explore and discover answers to historical questions? Elementary and middle school teachers are invited to learn about The DBQ Project and The DBQ Project Method. Learn by doing! Participants will do an abbreviated Mini-Q, practicing and discussing strategies for interpreting documents, establishing a collaborative classroom climate, and writing multi-paragraph argument essays. Open to administrators, instructional coaches, and teachers in grades 3-9. Participants will receive a free preview account to DBQ Online and a certificate verifying 4 hours of professional learning.

Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided and participants will be treated to a guided “behind the scenes” tour of the museum’s anthropology and archaeology collections and research facility.
